When Susan Mesker entrusted me with these reel to reel tapes, I had scant hope that they would be in good enough condition to work with. I decided to start with the oldest first, and to my surprise they played very well. All the information I have is what was written on the tapes or the box. It seems to me that these were informal "salon lectures" in New York, and you can hear (fairly loudly, unfortunately) the sounds of the city and nearby vocal warm-ups and rehearsals. Also of interest is the subject matter, as these lectures stray from his well known analysis of the Bard.
Chekhov, Shaw, St John April 27 1966
Some of the lectures are incomplete because the tape ran out during the original recording, most notably the lectures that are in two parts.
